Shields Road – Taylor Wimpey

In 2015, we were commissioned by Taylor Wimpey West to carry out civil and structural designs for a 500-unit development in Benthall, East Kilbride.

Initially, we carried out viability designs, encompassing a strategy for suds, drainage, earthworks, and access, including detailed levels, cut and fill, as well as detailed designs.

We conducted a detailed design of 0.7Km of local distributor road and new roundabout access, adhering to South Lanarkshire Council’s stringent requirements and providing infrastructure capacity for the proposed site.

Detailed Roads and Drainage consent application packages were prepared for the main site and phased to suit the developer build proposals. However, these were designed wholly to enable detailed earthwork volumetric analysis and continuity concerning drainage strategies.

The site was partially underlain by significant peat deposits which required complex road construction designs and creation of a peat management plan along to meet South Lanarkshire Council’s carbon capture policy.
